I do when I get the chance, and find the little boogers. Oklahoma's quail hunting has really gone downhill in recent years. Ever since they stopped paying bounties for Yote skins. Between the yotes, and hawks, them little birdies don't stand a chance.

I been quail huntin' since I was 5 or 6 years old, there is a big missconception about quail, for instance I have an uncle that has a farm with several large covey's of the "Real" Bob-White's, not the small mexican birds that have interbred with the big bob's, well my uncle will not allow me to hunt those quail with my German shothair, because he thinks I will wipe them out, but in reality by the mating season, no matter how large the covey is, only about 20% of the bird's will make it to reproduce weather or not they are hunted, that is a long established fact! The bobcat's and cooper's Hawks, and I guess Coyote's, never thought they were smart enough or fast enough to nail a mature Quail, but I suppose anything is possible! Another thing about raising quail, or buying them to release on your land is that if you do not keep a covey size number of quail together long enough in the pen's, and let them have as little human contact as possible, the bird's will disperse instead of staying together as a family unit, I have raised them in the past, and intend on doing it next year, along with Pheasant, and Chuckar, just so I can go out and ring some necks when I want some birds, and maybe talk my uncle into letting me work my dog on his property if I release a few coveys for him! But Quail hunting and good bird dog's is how I started my firearm/hunting experience, and I have not looked back, except to re-live many good memories! Also I think quail hunting is a good way to start your youngster's out on hunting, it teaches them to be more consiencious hunter's and conservationist, in the long run, and the whole family can do it together, like mine did! We had 3 generations hunting together and those are memories I will never forget! Dogs are expensive these day's though, and expensive to train, unless you can do it yourself!

But they love to raid the nests and eat the eggs. I think that's where a lot of the mortality rate comes from.
