Any of yall know anything about the Braztech 17 cal HMR rifles? They've got a single shot, which is what I'm lookin for, at Wal Mart for $120.
Never heard of the Braztech brand name myself but Rossi is supposed to be the parent company, I think, maybe vice versa.
Anyways, any of yall know anything about them?

Reb never heard of Braztech. My understanding is that Taurus now owns Rossi. I heard this several months back.Personally I wouldn't be interested in this rifle. Are parts available or service if something goes wrong? For another 100.00 you could get a reliable Savage BA in 17 HRM.If you want a single shot look at the Handi Rifles. I think you would be much better off.

Braztech is a Brazilian company. I think Taurus is related to them somehow. I believe Rossi makes Pumas.

They are probably all affiliated one way or another. My dealer did tell me several months ago that Taurus acquired Rossi.I'm sure there is truth to it but don't know it to be a fact.

Thanks for the replies. I've changed my mind now...lol...there is a Marlin bolt action with a bull barrel and I think it had a scope on it for $200 sitting on the gun rack there now. I think I might have to get that one. Looks real nice and it's a Marlin.

Smart move. All I've heard about the Marlin 17's has been on the positive side.I do recall one guy though saying his Marlin didn't want to feed one brand of cartridges. I can't remember what brand they were but I'm sure he had a Marlin having the problem. That's the only negitive I've read.

Cool. I plan on using the Hornady ballistic tips that I've been seeing pretty much everywhere they sell the 17 hmr. I prefer not to use any of that bulk ammo, too many misfires for me.

All .17HMR ammo is made at the CCI factory. They make it for the other companies as well as their own. The poly tips feed better than the hollow points.

I got the Marlin 917V, it's got the heavy barrel and a 7 shot clip. I love this thing! I put a 3-9x50 Simmons scope on it that I had laying around the house, sighted it in and was impressed with it. I shot three times at 100 yards and you could cover that group with a quarter. Haven't got to shoot a tree rat yet though, did shoot some platic coke bottles with it. Tore them suckers up pretty good. I may have to take a break from bowhunting and do a little squirrel hunting this weekend.

Took out three a few days ago right at dusk, one shot to the head and they never even flinched...lol.
Gotta love those 17 grain Federal V*Shok ballistic tips.
