About the only thing I shoot anymore is the ole Sharps or the muzzleloader. They are 45-70 and .50, on my snapping turtle sprees I use the .44 blackpowder revolver. Deer with the Sharps and deer with the muzzleloader.

For deer I usually use either my 7mm RM or 270 Win or on rare occasions a 30-06..For black powder season my Knight Disc in 50 cal.I have several to choose from but I really like the 270 the best for whitetails.
Aussie what caliber would be good Roo medicine?

Ruger Redhawk A good calibre on roos depends on if your spotlighting, or walking, or daylight shooting Spotlighting you are shooting from 200yd back mainly150yd and closer you are shooting from a rest I usually head shoot, I use to use a 22.250 most of the time,When putting out around a lot of nights 100round of ammo, to expensive to reload and wearing out barrels, For a fair time now use a 222 Daylighting & walking you better off using a heavier calibre you shoot faster and not as fussy where you hit them usually in chest if possible, there a lot more touchy in the daylight On the pigs I usually use .260Remington or a real good scrub gun the 45/70

Thanks Steve, I thought you would use a bigger caliber on them. That surprises me.Spotlighting. Is that legal there? How long a season is there on them? Or is there a season? Are they unprotected? For some reason I'm fasinated about these roos. What is the average weight on a full grown roo?Are the females open or just the bucks whatever they are called.?I know I'll never be able to afford to go down under but I do find interest in learning about them.

Ruger Redhawk Spotlighting is legal over here and there is no season on nearly all game shoot all year round, its a fairly effective way to get a lot of numbers up reasonably quick in the crops before to much damage. You don't need big calibres if head shooting most game, There is a lot of varieties of roos some are quite small others would stand well over a mans height
