I was wondering what's your favorite handgun cartridge you take to the woods?I like the 454 Casull. I usually carry a Redhawk in 44 mag.My SRH 454 Casull with the 9 1/2"bbl and Redfield scope is just to heavy to tote around.I personally put a 41 mag as a min. hunting cartridge for deer sized game.Just like to get your opinions.

Where i live in Canada it is not legal to hunt with a hanggun but i sure would like to..But when i am guiding i carry a Freedom Arms 454 Primier edition with 10inch barrel and 300gr's the area i guide in is loaded with Grizzly and they take a shot as a dinner bell.

That's a shame you can't use a handgun for hunting in Canada. Those Freedom Arms are nice but to rich for my empty pockets.I've seen a couple of them but never handled or fired any.At least you can carry it for Grizzly medicine if needed. Be grateful for that.

I always carry my RBH .45LC w/ 4-5/8" barrel...during gun season. Next I like .44mag. S&W DX w/8-3/8" barrel and 2-7 Burris scope. Also like 7-30Waters 14" Contender w/2-7 Burris scope. Have a S&W 10mm revolver but haven't used it hunting.

Friend of mine picked up a new one the other day that's pretty sweet handling. It was right at dark when I was over there so I didn't shoot it. It's a stainless, double action Taurus with a 12" barrel in .218 Bee. Got it to go with his lever gun in that caliber.

Quigley that's a new one on me.I knew Taurus was making the Raging Hornet in 22 Hornet but didn't know they were making a 218 Bee.I would like to get one of the Hornet's but they cost more then I'm willing to pay.Last time I looked on Taurus's site MSRP is right at 900.00. They must be proud of them. .I'm sure the Taurus in smaller calibers will hold up okay. I heard a few years back that Taurus RB's were having frame problems with their Big Bores. 454 Casull,44 Mag and the 480 Ruger.Something to do with the cylinder not locking correctly.I'm sure that's been corrected by now. Thanks but I'll stick with my Ruger's. Gotta agree, those Rugers are hard to beat! I need to get back over there and get that Taurus shot, would like to see what she does. That being in a .218 Bee really surprised me too.

I would like to hear how the 218 Bee does.I always wanted a S&W Model 53(?) I think it was a 53 for the 22 Jet.A late friend had a couple of them.I think the Ragin Hornet would be a nice gun but not at 900.00.Next time I go to BassPro I'll have to see if they have a Ragin Hornet. They usually have some good buys on Ruger's and I've seen Taurus's there but never really paid much attention to them.

In a wheel gun it would have to be 44 mag in a single shot it would be 308 Win.
