Hey RugerRedhawk, I contacted Di@k Bealieu at Ruger, about my liberty model, and he said he could fix me up one way or another, if they can take a half round off the thread's and rechamber the existing barrel they will, I explained about the sentimental value, and possible collector's value of the rifle, like I have saved the wood and put a synthetic on it and all that, and he said he understood about wanting to get the old barrel back with it, after rebarreling, if that is what they end up doing, but he said one way or another he would fix me up, and would talk to higher up's about returning my original barrel, he understood where I was comming from! He was a nice guy, and said that Ruger would do everything they could to get the gun to group for me, but a new barrel may be the only ticket, he also said if they cannot return my old barrel that it would just cost me a little over $100 bucks and I will get the old barrel back, their main concern about sending the old barrel's , especially a defective one like mine, is they do not want it ending up on another reciever, I assured him that would not happen, I'm about to go buy a cheap plastic case from my favorite gunshop, and send the old 257 back to NH, I told my salesman what I was doing and he said "heck we'll even cover the shipping for you," and call me when it get's back, so I am extreemly happy! Thank you very much for the info, and yes Ruger has changed, and they will get my business, the next Rifle purchase I make will be the trusty old M-77 like I have been toteing around since a youngster, which will probably be soon! So thanks again RR, I appreciate your help, and I now look at Ruger in a different light, thanks to you!
Thanks A Million RR! Lee

Backstrap, I'm glad I got you pointed in the right direction.I knew Di@k Beaulieu would help you. He's a dedicated man.If there's a possible way he can return your Liberty Barrel he will. He's that type of person. He can only do what he's allowed to do,I hope you understand that.Ruger would be glad to regain you as a customer. After he helped me with my exchange of that defective SRH I sent him a thank you card, you know a month later I received a letter from him thanking me and he was glad to have been able to help me. Enclosed in the letter was a nice Ruger Brassard(patch) to show his appreciation. Please keep his name for future references. I might be dead and gone and you won't have anyone to refresh your memory LOL. I'm sure you'll be satisfied. Looks like things will work out for you and I'm glad I was able to help you.A fair warning it might take a couple months getting it back. I've waited from two weeks to a few months. If they're busy you just have to wait your turn.

Backstrap I was thinking, I'm glad your Ruger was made in NH.If it would have been a semi auto made in Prescott AZ you'd been on your own. I don't know anybody there except for Jamie in the Sportswear dept.I probably could have called her and she would have gotten us pointed in the right direction. It's a done deal now. Be patient. Good things comes to though's who wait.

I have Savage guns than any other maker. Best rifles for the money.
Marlin would probably be my second favorite. Again, good rifles for the money.
I want to get to where I will eventually have one of each of the major American makers.
Have these so far: Remington Model 41 .22 rimfire, made in 1936. Winchester M1 Carbine .30 caliber, made in 1943. Mossberg Model 500A 12ga. Marlin Model 60 .22lr Marlin Model 1894CP in .357Mag S&W Model 640 .357Mag S&W Model 22S in .22lr Savage 10 converted to long range target rifle, .260 Ackley Improved. Savage Mark II BV .22lr Savage Striker .17HMR Savage Striker converted to tactical rifle, .223. Stevens (Savage) Model 311E 12ga double barrel.
Others are military rifles.

My Ruger purchase is going to be either a Mark II target pistol or a .17HMR version of the 10/22, model name escapes me at the moment.

t-roy I bought that Ruger SBH Hunter 44mag but with the standard grip frame.I like the regular grip frame.I put a set of Hogues on it last week. They only make them for the Squared Trigger Guard models.I called Hogue. The lady told me they will still fit the rounded trigger guard but there is a small gap. There is but doesn't look bad at all.
You and I think alike. I wanted to get a Single Six in the 17 HMR.My dealer owes me some money on a consignment gun he sold. When the time is right I'll have him order me one.Unless I can find a deal on gunsamerica. I'll have one eventually

I know this is going to sound way off but I like the New England Firearm Handi-rifle. Versitile, accurate (from my experience), manuverable in brush, & cheap. I also have a soft spot in my heart for the Savage model 99 (lever gun). It's what my Garndfather had & what I used in my youth.
