I wish Remington had just kept the old 1100 instead. It was a much better gun than any 11-87 I've seen.

I can't agree with you more Danny! I have the remington 1100 12gauge semi auto and love it! Never had any problems with it and is a charm to shoot!!!

Another vote for the Remington 1100. The way Remington's quailty has slipped there will never be another new Remington in my future.I'm a Ruger man and will take a Ruger anytime over a Remington .

It's about for a New "Gun of the Week". One of my favorites happens to be the Ruger M-77 "All weather" Ruger Redhawk

buckNrut, I've reloaded for a young guy that owns a Marlin Guide Gun in 45-70. Have shot it, seemed to be a fine rifle. His has a scope on it that he's zeroed in at 100yds.. He took an elk at 125yds. a couple years ago. At that time he was shooting a factory cartridge, 300gr. if I remember right. He wanted a bigger bullet, so I fixed him up with a 405gr. flat point. That's about all I can tell ya about it. The day I was shooting it we were just playing down at the river, shot a couple boxes through it and about a 100rds. through the Sharps. He realized for any long range work he couldn't compete with the ole Sharps, but in that 100-150yd. range that rifle will surely do!

yeah i havent heard much about them being a real long range rifle but where i hunt 150 yrds is a long shot! Because of the houses and things around here. I like it because of its knockdown power and simply because theres not a lot of people who hunt with them. The first time i saw this gun was on a hunting show i saw on tv. They were hunting in Canada and shot a 600lb + black bear with it and it dropped where it stood. That was all i needed to see. I was sold on the idea of owning one after that. But my wife seems to think that i already have enogh guns but you can never have enough!! LOL

I love my old Ruger's and Winchesters, but there is no quality lacking in my new Remington 700 BDL 270 WSM, it is just like my old ruger, Aluminum Floorplate,I belive the "BIG turn off" is just a lock on the bolt, and a trigger that need's to be adjusted, but all my old Ruger's were the same way, and I suspect they still are, sans the bolt lock, hate to argue over brands, but for the money I'd say Remington, and Ruger are at the top, in that order, I like Ruger's new service policy better, but I can take care of all the factory glitches on my Remington's, just as I have done on every ruger I have ever owned, 'cept for bad barrel's on Ruger's (I don't think I have ever owned a rifle that I have not had to modify, including the Kimber manliker I ditched last year) , Also I was sad to see the 1100 drop by the wayside, glad I have 3 of them, but don't use them anymore, they are all A grade gorgeous shotguns, besides I like a side by side for hunting better!
