Parked outside of the hunt unit gate and walked about 75yds until I was out of sight of the truck and setup overlooking a 90degree curve in the trail that runs out into a cutover and creekbottom. Blew a series cottontail distress calls that ran about 30secs and caught movement across the trail and up on the hillside. A grayfox came onto the trail and turned toward the setup. Closed to the top of the hill and a few squeaks stopped him. The Ruger spat again this morning and the gray went down. ...Note the squeaker attached to the Coyote Buster Shoot'n-Styx so it can be operated with left hand as I hold the styx steady for the shot... When I was returning to the truck I found some old bobcat sign headed toward the cut-over which has a lot of bushpiles pushed up. Cats love big bushpiles and they're safe until Nov.24. Looks like the start of a good year of predator calling....
