I was wondering if we had any expeirenced coyote trackers on the site? I recently ran across a lot of tracks near where a young deer was hit by a car.I saw the deer on the way to work the other evening and I went the next morning and dragged the deer into the woods hoping to get a shot on a coyote or atleast a pic of one on my trail cam. I took some pics of the tracks and I am waiting to get my pics back so that I can post them. There was several different size tracks. Some were no bigger than a 50 cent piece and others were about twice that size. I dont know if they're all or any are coyote tracks. The night before I found the tracks I heard several coyotes sounding off in the direction of where I had took the deer a few days earlier. I also found what looked like a scrape but made by a dog. You know how sometimes a dog will scratch up the ground after he uses the bathroom? Thats what it reminded me of. If the way I described the signs that i found sounds like a coyote or a fox let me know. I look forward to posting my pics with this post to get help identifing these tracks. Tahnks for any replies.

The picture place was closed to day die to the snow and ice and they're not gonna be open tomorrow either. So monday morning when I get off of work im gonna get them developed. They have one-hour photo so I will have them posted no later than monday morning. I put my cam back out into the woods today after all the ice had passed by. Im hoping to get some deer pics in the snow. They found my corn after I took my camera down yesterday evening. I didnt want the ice to mess it up.

The tracks of a coyote will have the middle toes close together in the center and may/may print the outer claw marks. Gray/Redfox will be shaped the same but smaller and the outer clawmarks will usually be printed. House dogs will have evenly spaced toe pads and all the claws will print.... The three bottom prints are coyote (toes close and no outer clawmark) and the bigger prints ( evenly spaced toes and all claws printed) are housedogs.

Found a single line of tracks today, while scouting for turkey sign. This is a fox. Note the outer clawmarks close to the middle toes...

The coyote's front paws are larger than the rear and they walk in single file, so the feet will alternate front and rear. The footmarks will thus alternate large & small. This is a coyote walking across some soft sand shortly after a rain. Coyote tracks:
