1. When carrying out a turkey have blaze orange on to alert hunters that they didn't just get luck. It might save your life.
2. When a goobler has all the hens he can handle getting him to come to you can be difficult. do not pass up any opportunity to call in gobbling jakes. If that gobbler is nearby he may leave the hens just long enough to kick some jake butt.
3. Do not stalk turkey calls. The majority of turkey hunting accidents happen when one hunter stalks upon another hunter.
4. Fishing string attached to your decoy will add a bit of realism to your setup. Heavily hunted gooblers seems to be getting shy of turkeys that never move.
5. Simulating mating with a jake and hen decoy is more than many gooblers can stand.
6. If you where unsuccessful in the morning do not give up. Hens often nest in the middle of the day offering a great chance to call in that goobler.
7. Do not try calling turkeys before the hunting season opens, this will make the Toms call shy!
8. Have some patience. Getting up to soon is one of the most common mistakes hunters make.
9. Do not over call. This is also a common mistake. Often a Tom will stop calling when he gets close or is strutting.
10. When you first set up make sure that it is comfortable. It will usually take some time before the old Tom appears. Make sure you can last that long. Clearing sticks from under your rear is a job for when you first sit down, not an hour later as that goobler is approaching.
