I have a staghorn inline that I bought in the kit it ran right around 100 bucks without the scope on sale. It works real well. I also have a more traditional silver hawk that ran me about 75 bucks on sale. I like them both but I have had problems with the side lock firing when it was damp out for the whole day. the inline has never had that problem. I think the sidelock is much more fun to shoot at the range with patch and ball. But the inline seems to be more accurate and it does have more reach downrange. I dont think you can go wrong with one of the inline kits to start with they are alot of gun for the money and you can trade up if you get bit by the blackpowder bug.

JOS on those damp rainy days I use "Quick Seal", it's a silicone cap that fits over the percussion cap. Works real good! Last muzzleloading season it rained most of opening day, I sat out in it all morning and evening. Left the rifle loaded overnight and dropped my buck at 7:00 the next morning, fired just fine. You'll really like them for those nasty days.

We don't have an Acadamy Sports around here, there is a thingy's Sporting Goods store here though. Later, Dave got two Acadamys here
