WOW! If you think 50 cal pellets are expensive ,buy some 45 cal.The 50's come in boxes of 100 @21.99. The 45 cal come in boxes of 50 @12.99. Triple 7 is 14.99 a box of 50. All were 50 grain pellets. Why are they so much more expensive?I figure they don't sell many and raise the price for stocking them.

T-Roy I agree they are pricey.I can mail order them but when you add the Hazmat it's no bargain.I only use the pellets to make sure it's still sighted in and strickly for hunting.A box will last me for several years. So for the convenience of them I'll pay the extra cost.

Guy's do your self a favor and use Black Powder, that pyrodex stuf is junk! Just my opinion, if you want a real shooter use 3f, (FFF)!

Backstrap, I agree especially if you're going to do allot of shooting. I never used anything but 3Fg until I got my Knight Disc.Like mentioned before I only use the pellets for making sure it's still on the money and to hunt with.If I had the time to use it at the range often I would use my 3Fg.The pellets are more convenient for hunting in my opinion. That's the only advantage I see in them.Loose powder is allot cheaper to use. Then again I haven't bought BP for a long time. The last BP I bought was from a club I belonged to way back.I'm talking 20-25 years ago. We were paying 3.00 a pound. We kept our empty cans. The club was buying it in Bulk. The little bit I shoot my Disc a box of pellets will last me for several seasons. That old powder I just mentioned I still have quite a bit of.It's as good as the day I bought it.I wouldn't hesitate using it in any situation. There again I know how it's been stored over the years.

HaHaHa I bet you would. That 3.00 a pound is long since gone.I have no idea what it's selling for now if you can even find it.With all the Gov't regulations and the Hazmat fees prices have soared.I appreciate your offer but I think I'll keep what I have.I don't have that much left after all this time. The way I've been using it,it should last me the rest of my life. I haven't opened a can in a long time.It doesn't cost anything to keep though.A good friend who worked at a gun shop was telling me not long ago BATF came in their shop. Not sure what the deal was but he told me they decided to quit carrying BP.I think there was a big increase in the license fee for dealing with BP.Like I said not sure what the reasons were, never the less they don't sell BP anymore.

I guess I think BP is just a lot better even hunting you can load up your speed loaders and carry them in your pocket and just open one end and down the powder goes, then open the other and start your ball and patch or new style bullets, without carrying a horn or anything, that's what my dad does, but I have to carry a possibles bag, because they don't make speed-loaders in .40 cal and the new powder flask's are small, and weather-proof, and a new style powder measuer is smaller than the one's in the old days, so why not use BP? it's just as easy, and in my opinion a lot more accurate, and reliable! Besides I think that pyrodex is just easier to obtain, in most wally-worlds, and it's less quality, with more marketing! Again, just my opinion! I'm just old school!

Oh you can still get Black powder, just harder to get than in the old days, I am a Son's of Confederate Veteran's member, and belong to an arty. unit, once when doing a reenactment, The ATF was there, and the old guy, my unit Comander, was asked about the powder by an obviously niave ATF agent, IE: "that could be used for this and that ect..." The grey headed old man turned to him and said "son this ain't the north, if us boys wanted to blow somthing up we would not waste good powder, we'd use fertilizer, and fuel" the whole squad broke into laughter, as the red faced ATF agent walked away with a quizical look on his face, like he thought we were crazy, he asked a crazy question or two and got a smart but true answer from the old man, he is a great friend of mine, and it is amazing how "some" yank's and government people think us good ole boy's are a bunch of idiots, they get freaky about a few cans of powder in an arty. company, and waste tax-payer dollars to go to a reenactment of a civail war battle to harrass us about using Black powder, it's ridiculous! Those guys are something else!

The ATF probably nailed them for carrying too much in stock, I think you are only allowed, personally to own 20 lb's, they probably went over the limit and got fined! I still have a shop that sell's it around here, and we get it cheaper through my gun club, but like you I have enough to last a lifetime!

RR, I usually buy mine at a shop out of town. Swiss is what I prefer. But can get 2lbs. of Goex for the price of one can of Swiss. Do have a place here in town that still sells it also, but I'd rather be shot than buy anything from that guy! BTW, I remember those $3.00 a pound days.
