Hey ya'll I lost the first deer i ever shot at with my bow. Yep bummer but I did everything I know to do except for make a better shot. I have come to the conclusion that I hit this deer high. I retrieved my arrow stuck in the ground about 15 yards behind where the deer was standing and right in line with it. Didn't find any blood for about 400 to 500 yards then was scarce. went about 30 yards further and there was a pool about the size of paper plate like it had just stood there. Then no blood no where for at least 200 to 300 yards all around where I found the pool. It just stopped. My question is what are the chances of this deer surviving ??

Could be, but what color was the blood: red, pink, was it frothey or just clotted? Did you find any bone or gut material? That kinda tells ya where it was hit, and if it was a vital area or not.
