hate to burst yalls bubbles but, they are calling for afternoon thunderstorms this evening... right now it is cloudy.. this mornings hunt it was boring...all i seen was squirrels and rain drops fell from the trees and acorns and leaves falling, i couldn't quite tell the difference between that and "deer steps".. This evening i was looking forward to going out on an evening hunt, but due to the "severe thunderstorms" we are supposed to have my dad postponed the hunt until Monday, unless of course any more rain or thunderstorms happen then too... This season is a wet season, usually for us September and October are really dry, but now it is wet, soggy and miserable... the rut starts in one month (end of october to early november) and here is the rain! I am afraid that when i hunt the rut and i set out my scent bombs and my mock scrapes that i will make, it will all be flushed out due to rain and storms.. Last year was a perfect year but i never did use my mock scrape technique, i did grunt once..which that didn't help any... This year if it isn't too miserable, then i will try to focus on more techniques than to just sit and wait...i will set out lures, etc. I was hoping to go out this evening, but the deer got lucky! However they won't be lucky long! Good luck hunting this season and god bless

nvm! My dad decided to take me out since it ain't raining, he is going to sit me on the ground... wish us good luck! God bless He set me in the stand and he sat on the ground... he seen a doe that was coming my way, but by the time he said it was coming my way, i couldn't see my sight pins because we had some nasty fog tonight, and apparently i spooked her.. So i messed up yet another hunt! 3 years in a row i have ruined hunts! I would hate to do this but i am thinking about quitting... why should i hunt anymore if all i am going to do is mess up hunts?? Oh and RR and Renegade and all of yall others, please don't rub it in..i am not really in the mood right now for it.. My dad already gave me a hard time! I don't need no more lecturing... my dad says "Better luck next time!" and all i did is grunt, and think to myself, "heh, there ain't gonna be a next time" But now i am setting that aside and living on..even though i am ashamed of myself, but i need to let it go.. Just like RR said, to throw it over my back, and i am doing that, i am now calm, and ready to go out hunting again lol! But...maybe right now wouldn't be a good time... Anyway sorry to dissapoint yall with no pictures, i promise to post a picture of my dad and his deer to kind of keep yalls patience.. Good luck this hunting season and god bless

12 ga I don't want to hear that crap about you quitting. If everytime any of us had things go wrong and we said we were going to quit none of would be hunting.I went many years until I shot my first deer. Yes I thought about buying Golf Clubs ,but I'm not a quiter.Once I broke the ice every year since I've gotten at least one deer. Some years several more.I don't know your dad but I'm sure it would hurt him if you told him you weren't going hunting anymore. No I'm not rubbing it in. I've been there.Put today behind you and go out the next time determined to get your deer.Nobody likes a quiter.I'm sure I can speak for almost everybody here. We don't want to hear the word quit from you again. I hope you understand quiters finish last. Ruger Redhawk

12gauge You should not feel bad at all, I for one would be proud of you. The reason being if you cann,t see your sighting clear you shouldn,t shoot, the least thing you can do for that animal is take it in one shot, if possible. There is to much game wounded due to bad shots. and for a young person to be in control of his excitement and not just shoot for the sake of it, shows you will make a great hunter and sportsman, Its not also about the game you hunt, it as simple as just enjoying having the opportunity of being there

yeah, i thought it over, i will just try harder next time.. I was so much of an emotional wreck because my dad gave me a hard time.. But anyway, next day we are hunting is Monday, and that's the evening because i have school I hate school! But i have to go throught it to get a great job and good life.. It is just difficult on me because i thought i was doing something good because it was the latest i have ever stayed out in a stand, but apparently it was not good enough..according to my dad.. I was enjoying it until my dad started to give me lecture, i was proud of myself for staying as late as i did, and such but until my dad came up to me and started to lecture, then it just tore me to pieces... I am not a quitter, but sometimes i do think like that..i don't know why.. anyway, good luck on your hunts and god bless

dont quit yet,i have messed up in more ways than i can count, just give it some time did ya read what i said before this? I ain't gonna quit, quitters never win! I was thinking about doing it because i was so dissapointed at myself and so frustrated.. which those are big words for you 243..lemme bump down to your level.. I was thinking about stopping hunting because i was mad at myself and in a bad mood.. Better? anyway, i will try to do better as the years go by, i have messed up a few hunts, but i am sure everyone has.. Here's a joke that acts as a excuse for messing up a hunt.. Father and son go deer hunting A father and son went hunting together for the first time. The father said, "Stay here and be very QUIET. I'll be across the field." A few minutes later, the father heard a bloodcurdling scream and ran back to his son. "What's wrong?" the father asked. "I told you to be quiet." The son answered, "Look, I was quiet when the snake slithered across my feet. I was quiet when the bear breathed down my neck. I didn't move a muscle when the skunk climbed over my shoulder. I closed my eyes and held my breath when the wasp stung me. I didn't cough when I swallowed the gnat. I didn't cuss or scratch when the poison oak started itching. But when the two chipmunks crawled up my pant legs and said, 'Should we eat them here or take them with us?' Well, I guess I just panicked." Heh, i told that to my dad last night and he laughed before i could even finish the joke.. Good luck this hunting season and god bless
