So..how yall think ya gonna do this season?

I am curious of how yall are going to think you guys are going to do this season...

It is bow season for me on October the 2nd, and i am curious about yalls set ups and such so i can kind of get an idea of how the experienced hunters do it...

so here are a few things i would like to know..

1) How yall think you are going to do..
2) Your set up, bow type, arrow type, broadhead type, etc.
3) Stand location, in the woods or looking over a knoll or looking in a field, etc.
4) Describe it..tell me all your shooting lanes, where you put mock scrapes etc.
5) How late you all like to stay out, my father likes to stay out to where he can't see his pins..i am the opposite..
6) and how many deer do you get yearly (average or total if ya can keep count)

Thanks for the info, and just to let you guys know why i am asking this is because i want to learn from you guys, what to do, where to put mock scrapes, etc, and if i was to stay later that i would get more deer, etc..

so please help me out..

Hopefully at least one with a bow. My wife will skin me if don't kill something besides targets with it!

I shoot a 2003 PSE Durango (some kind of special edition made for the dealer), NAP Quicktune 2000 Drop Away rest, PSE Carbon Force Dominator 300's right helical fletching , Muzzy 4 blade 100 grain broadheads.

As for stands, got'em everywhere and a climber to take where I don't have a ladder stand or a shooting house.

I stay out til ya have to have a light to walk back to the truck.

I don't do mock scrapes, just doctor the existing ones up and try to find a place somewhere down wind of it.

I usually kill 3, 2 does and a buck. That generally keeps me in deer meat til the next season. Kill an extra one sometimes, if I know someone is down on their luck and could really use some meat in freezer.

thanks for the info..the reason i ask for yalls set up is to see what i am doing different, i average about 1 deer a year...

My dad like i said above stays out til he can't see his sight pins on his bow..

I started staying out until it was about prime time, which was a huge mistake!

Now this year i will try to stay out a little longer...

i have a parker challenger, it is a nifty bow, but by next year i will get a martin because the max pundage on my parker is 49, which is what i have it at now..

Oh I Dunno How good I will do this season, I have only killed 2 does and 1 Buck. the buck was taken this morning just after sun up he was walking away from me so I made a doe bleet and he walked right in my shooting lane, perfect broadside shot 40 yards away hit the heart and both lungs that is the first 40 yard shot I have ever taken and probably wouldnt have taken it if i was using any other set up besides my newberry and the Speed Pro arrows shooting 355 FPS makes for a very flat trajectory.
I took the first doe opening morning also with the newberry from a distance od 19 yards, the second doe was taken pretty much in the same spot as the first 2 weeks apart with an HCA Xcalibur set at 50# because I had been having elbow
problems and having a hard time pulling back the newberry the buck was in the same vecenity as the 2 does.

I was hunting on a flat about mid ways up taylors ridge where there is a spring near by and white oaks and pin oaks every where and a pine thicket at the bottom of the hill Many deer and turkey have been taken on this spot.

I have several Bow set ups but my main hunting rig Is the Newberry B1 74# 29" with a GKF TKO Fallaway HCA TSS 3 pin sight with only 2 pins and a 6" extention bar. GKF Shorty Tranquilizer Braided Wrist sling Tubeless peep
arrow set up is Carbon Revolution Speed Pro Max Speed Nocks Speed Pro 55 GN broadheads and Bohning Blazer vanes

Due to a titanium hip I no longer hunt from a tree stand but hunt from an Ameristep pent house and a round house the pent house is basically my stationary blind and I use the round house as my mobile blind since it is lighter

I dont make Mock scrapes but I do look for a big scrape and I will use doe P to put in the scrape.
I also found if you have to go just go in the scrape this will have a dominant buck hunting you instead of you hunting him, smart old bucks will get a little stupid when he thinks with the wrong head (typical male charicteristic)
I also drag around esterous saturated on a tampon from the scrape going in the direction where I Have my blind set up, I will make a doe bleet or a grunt depending on the circumstancesduring the pre rut I will do a little rattling but just enough to get any near by deer curious but not to over do any of the above
knowing when to and knowing when not to has a lot to do with whether you are successful or not.
but none of the above will produce absolutley no results if you are not going out and scouting and knowing where the deer are and where they eat, sleep and hang out.

the Moon phases and whether it is early or late season determines the times I hunt.
