Dave and I discussed hunting many times. He had just started hunting a few years earlier. He had never shot a deer but thought this would be his year.Unfortunately it never came to be. I want to dedicate these two Buck's in Dave's Memory. I had a good two weeks in Georgia.Muzzleloading was disappointing. My partner had shot 4 deer before I ever saw one.Nothing really to speak of.A couple does and a 4 point.Another which was thought to be a doe turned out being a knot head. My luck changed when modern gun opened.Sunday at 6:25PM a nice buck walks out. I couldn't get a shot then. I watched when he reappeared about 125 yds away. With the new Ruger M-77 in 7mm08 he met his demise at 6:35PM.He's a 8 point approx 160#'s Wednesday evening @6:10 I shot a small doe. Friday morning 10:00am in the same area as the first buck came out another nice buck appeared. He wandered about 150 yds when I could finally get a shot. The 7mm08 did it's job again. He was a 8 point but has a broken main beam which probably had another point or two. He weighed about the same as the first one did. It's early in the rut . Both their necks were swollen some.I think the second one had been out all night chasing the girls .Apparently he was headed back to his bedding area. A very expensive piece I might add. In two weeks I managed to get a full freezer . Ruger Redhawk

Yeah I did. I hated to come home especially to go back to work. The season is still young and I'll have plenty of time to go back for more of the good times.

Thanks HHG. Sweet pictures? Hmmmmmm are you talking about the two bucks or that handsome old Ruger ? LOL. LOL.Last year I shot 4 if I remember right. The biggest was a 7 point on opening day. We missed out on muzzleloading season because of the hurricanes last year. I hope you have a good, safe and plentiful season.Yes that 7/08 will lay them low.I heard allot of negitive talk about the Ballistic Tips. Can't prove it by me. All three deer were one shot kills using Federal Vital Shok 146 gr Nosler BT's.

I think the main thing with the BT's is keeping way from the shoulder. When it hit the bone it goes to pieces. Both my shots were a little further back then I wanted. It still went though and destroyed the lungs.Neither went very far before dropping.
What no comment about the sweet pictures? LOL.

Thanks BT, I thouight that would be a nice gesture for our friend Dave.Mike lives in North GA and I hunt in SE GA.I'm heading out in a few minutes for GA.I decided to take 4 days since my other two partners are going for the 4 days. No way I can work when I know they are trying to thin the big boys out.LOL. I'll let you know how we doing in God's Country.
