Just curious as to what the state limits are in your area, and if you are on a buck program. Here is ours:
BAG LIMIT: The bag limit on antlered buck deer is one (1) buck per day, not to exceed three (3) per license year. Only antlered buck deer with antlers of four (4) points or greater may be taken. The bag limit on antlerless deer is one (1) per day, not to exceed three (3) per license year; except that two (2) additional antlerless deer per license year may be taken with a bow and arrow.

I haven't hunted in my home state(Florida) for over 10 years and I honestly couldn't tell you what the bag imit is here. I hunt Georgia.A quick glimps a month ago shows it hasn't changed since last year. We are allow two Antlered Deer. One can be any buck. The second must have at least 4 points on one side. Now we can shoot 10 of the girls. After last year if it's brown it's gonna hit the ground. Last year was the poorest season in years. My freezer proves that today.I'm mainly a meat hunter. Antlers are a plus of course.Once I have enough meat for the year I become very selective.I have never met the bag limit. Best year I had was 4 or 5 a few years back. Ruger Redhawk Hey Bucky

Kansas is one buck, 3 does per year. Or 4 does. Wish they would up the ante, there are plenty to go around.

Georgia is encouraging us to thin the does out. It's been 10 does for the last few years if I remember right. I think 4 years ago it was 6 does and two of any bucks. Certain areas have restrictions on size of bucks. One county I know has a min of 15"or 15 1/2" spread Does are open the entire season in the South region. Not sure about the other regions. we hunt by county here! One county that i'm in is one buck only (mulley) and one whitetail buck. Antlerless by permit only. the other county I'm in is a 5 deer county limited to 2 bucks and 3 does or 1 buck and 4 does or just 5 does as long as you don't go over 2 bucks!

Alabama is divided into zones. Some zones have almost no season. The majority of the state has a good season.
75 days for gun season. 2 deer per day, only one may be an antlered buck.
So, you can have 2 does per day if you want. Unfortunately, a lot of the old school hunters WILL NOT kill does regardsless.

J J I think this is a bit missleading, the zonzes we have are for the "hunter's Choice" seasons in each zone. Hunter's choice being 2 deer per day, one of wich may be an antlered buck, or two does. Taking that into cosideration, as long as you are on private land you can take 2 deer per day in most of the state from Oct 15th through Jan. 31st unless you are in the zone's you mentioned, in those area's that J said have "almost no season" that is mainly in the NW corner of the state the, and have almost no "hunter's choice season" they have the shortest Hunter's Choice season, otherwise you can take 2 deer per day for a certain amount of time in the whole state depending on the density of the deer herd!
That being said, most of the state you can harvest 2 per day, one antlered or two doe's, and this past season on the management area's this was instituted to varying degree's, on Black powder hunt's you can harvest 2 a day on Management Area's, and some of the southern Mgt. area's you could harvest 2 deer on all hunt's except bow hunting, that did not make much sense to me, but a lot of stuff on Mgt. Area's don't!
But needless to say Alabama has the most liberal harvest limit's I have heard of, Mississippi may have a similar deal considering the grossly overpopulation of deer in the two states, and like J said a lot of hunter's are stuck in the 70's and will not harvest a doe if told to do so, they have got to change! There is possible legislation being considered that the Biologist are in favor of, and may have come up with and that is : 2 bucks a year both of which must have 3 scorable point's on one side, and the rest must be doe's, Alabama may be facing a Buck tag situation for the first time, if the population is not brought to a manageable level.
We have a lot of deer in Alabama, and some think they are not big but belive me we have some monster's, maybe not the body weight of some of the Northern state's but the HUGE 14 poin't I took last year (that made the Record Books, 183 BC) was 210 lb's Dressed (completely empty) so it was close to 240-250 lbs in south Alabama, mainly big body weight is a northern Bama trait, but one in Barbour County where I hunt weighed 304 live weight, but that was about a decade ago and he was 8 years old.
Needless to say we have some good hunting, both meat and rack down here, I feel no need to go out of state, my typical 14 point would rival any deer anywhere, and he was not the king of the hill by a long shot, there is a 19 point "PERFECT TYPICAL" that is running around in my hunting area, on public land belive it or not that we have tree cam Pic's of, I think he would be in the top five in the Country, and probably blow the Alabama Typical record to shred's!
