Now that you have climbed atop your favorite stand or tree stand, you are all ready to hunt. Not until you have fastened your safety belt. But why you ask? This stand isn't moving and I am not going to just fall out! There are any number of things that can go wrong and probably will. You could drop something and quickly reach for it, and over the side you go. You could have a few friendly hornets pay you a visit. I can just about guarantee you that if you sit in that stand long enough you will fall asleep and over the side you go. So buckle up!
does anyone else pratice this safety

Yes Sir Buddy,As big a pain wearing a safety belt or harness is it's a must.No matter how much you trust your stand the unexpected can happen. The stand could slip, break,or tilt.I had that slipping experience with my new version Treelounge.I won't go 5 feet off the ground without my safety belt on.I've done some of my best sleeping up amonst the birds.Granted it would be hard to fall out of some stands, some would be allot easier. For the couple extra seconds it takes to put on your safety equipment take that time and do it. The neck you save will be yours.BT Thanks for bringing up this Safety Tip.

The majority of hunting accidents occur when a hunter is climbing into or out of their tree stand. Make sure you wear a fall restraint harness when getting into and out of your stand. When on stand adjust the tether so theire is NO SLACK in the line, but enough for you to move, that way if you do happen to have a mishap you won't fall much past your treestand platform. Which will make it a bit more easier to get back into your stand.

You betcha. I am not a bit afraid of heigths but I cannot imagine anyone not wearing something. Like Renegade said, most accidents are while going up or going down so wear something while your climbing. I had a driver in step break off on me once so you never know when something might fail.

If you have ever dropped the bottom part of your climbing stand while pulling yourself up, you learn to wear your safety harness. I keep my top and bottom stand tied together, but if you've dropped it off your feet, and felt your heart in your throat, it don't take long before you remember why you wore your safety harness!!

HHG you bring up a valid point...............It's funny the way we learn some lessons fast.. I keep my foot climber attached to the top section. No I never dropped it but it could be easy for it to happen without tying it off.
