They have changed our primitive weapon season by allowing us to hunt with: single or double barreled hunting rifles of at least .38 caliber, single shot breech load, cartridge rifles of a kind and type maufactured in the US prior to 1900, and replicas, reproductions, or reintroductions of those type of rifles. Breech loaders must have an exposed hammer, and use metallic cartridges loaded with black powder or black powder substitute and suitible primers and lead projectile!! Check that out!!

Yeah, I think it is $100.00 for the head guy, and 50 bucks fer the helper. The alligator has to be restrained before it can be killed and you have to take a class before you are allowed a tag.

Gator hunting has been going on down here for sometime .If I'm correct you apply for permits.I believe it's more like a lottery.Get drawn for them.
Mississippi is helping you out.(Well maybe not you HHG ,since they're keeping you cornfed) Gives you allot of options. I haven't gotten the new Reg book from Georgia yet.No scopes are allowed during BP season.I keep hoping that will change to help my old tired eyes.Other then that we can use most BP guns.209 primers are okay.Unfortunately a couple friends at work who also hunt in Georgia just told me the non resident licenses went up 50.00.Between that and the price of gas it's gonna be a very expensive hunting season.

I don't want to be the one who has to restrain the gator either. I heard that might be changing the law on the BP where you can use a scope don't know if it passed or if it will be allowed at a later date

One of my buddy's from work got the Georgia Reg book. The licenses did go up. Not quite as much as we were told. The big game tags went from 119.00 to 135.00. The Licenses were 59.00 now 75.00.That's a 32.00 increase. Everything else stayed the same.Management areas 73.00. Primitive weapon stamps is still 25.00.
BT I haven't looked at the regs myself. I asked if they changed it to allow scopes during BP season. He said he didn't think so.I'll get my hands on one of the reg books soon. I'll look for myself. Just like baiting. This debate has been going on for some years I doubt GA will ever legalize it. They make to much popping people baiting.

I aint too quick to go and try to get a tag for that gator season here, I would probly end up bein gator bait knowin some of these folks around here!! On the other topic, we have been able to use scopes in BP for about 3 yrs know, no limit on magnification either.

HHG How did I know you would have a come back.Oh that's right, you're on a soy bean diet.I'm sure gator hunting would be fun.I no longer have a boat. Even at that the boat I had I sure wouldn't have tried to gator hunt out of.Chance are I would have ended up being the hunted instead of the hunter in that weenie boat I had. When gator season opens allot of times the local news shows some of the gators taken. Some big one's are taken..Just north of me are thousands of Gators. Don't get excited. I'm taking about the Gator's at the University of Florida. In fact there are several I would like to wrestle with.Roll in the mud.LOL.
I sure wish GA would let us use scope during BP season. A couple years ago I had a nice deer about a 100 yards away.It would have been a easy shot with a scope. With the open sights I couldn't see the deer. The sights covered the entire deer.I thought I had him in the sights. I fired and never cut a hair.I've shot a couple with this same muzzleloader. Those were within 25-30 yards. No problem there.I have a Ruger M77/50 scoped up. If they ever legalize it I'll have to give the Ruger a whirl.
