As many of you may known, California is not blessed with the abundance of deer that other areas of the country have, particularly Southern California. I did manage to bag a 2x2 Blacktail this morning with a right side eye guard (tyne) an no eyeguard on the left side. This is my second season hunting deer and I have been fortunate in getting a buck each year. I sure would like to get a shot at a big Whitetail someday but in the meantime I'll pursue what we have here.

In California it's a short 6 week season. You can get two of them but I just go for one.

I hunt California many times for Blacktail's. Hunt Central Coast (San luis Obispo County, Monterey County) I have take some good ones. 1995 I have taken a great 18" wide forked horn with eye gaurds. 23 3/4" high on the left & 24 1/4" on the right side, eye gaurd where 3 1/2" high. Hunt the National Forest Las Padres behind the Fort Hunter Ligget side (west side). There is biggins over there. I have the proof, just e-mail me and I'' sent ya some pictures. For a Arkansas Boy I sure know where I have been sucessful.
