Guys and Gals, I don't own one but I do work patrol in my county and run across folks right regular that ride on the county dirt roads, spin'em around, cut donuts, pretty much cut up on them. 2 weeks ago we put a 30+year old gentleman in the ambulance for a trip to the hospital, he fractured his neck in an accident on his hunting lease. I know helmets are aggravating to deal with, love to feel the open air flowing around you and all, but PLEASE, PLEASE wear a helemt, this guy will never walk again cause he went down to do maintenance on his lease. Now he won't ever walk again, hope one day he gets to hunt the lease again if it is in a wheelchair, least he will be hunting. They make helmets for a reason so please Safety First!!

I agree with you Dep6. I'll admit I don't wear a helmet. Then again I 'm not a wildman on my 4 wheeler either. Here in Florida a couple years ago they did away with the law requiring Motorcycle riders to wear helmets. To me if you ride on the street and don't wear a helmet you're asking for a death wish. When I got hit 30+ years ago if I didn't have a helmet on I would have been pushing up daisies. My helmet was caved into my forehead. On my 4 wheeler I only ride on the trails we've made and know them like the back of my hand.I'm not saying an accident can't happen.Just not very likely. Last year though one morning going to our stands we were riding along the side of the road on the easement.Pitch dark. This idiot in a truck must have been doing 80 MPH. I was getting into the curve. This idiot was coming into the curve from the other direction. He was getting closer to the edge of the road as he got into the curve. My buddy was right behind me on his Honda..When I realized he was coming towards us we shot down into the ditch.I said to my buddy man that was close. He said that he just missed me by a few feet. I didn't realize he was that close when he went flying by us.Now riding along the roadside I get a sinking feeling when a car is coming towards us.In that case a helmet wouldn't have done anything except stopping our brains from splattering everywhere.

With all my gabbering, I forgot to mention my prayers are with that unfortunate guy. I hope that by some miracle he'll be able to walk again.I had a good friend several years ago had a bad truck accident. He was a quadaplegic (sp?). he finally died from complications a few years later. One second can change and ruin your life forever.
