I recently shot a Ruger Super Redhawk in .44 Remington Magnum. Out of all my shots, I only hit the TARGET once because everytime I fired, the gun "recoiled" and went "up". Can anyone give me advice on how to shoot this fine firearm better?

Whew, I thought you were having a problem with one of our administrators! How much experience do you have shooting a revolver? Are you shooting it single action, or double action mode? Revolvers can be a bit difficult to shoot unless you know how, and practice a lot. The recoil of the firearm is not your problem. The bullet is long gone before the muzzle kicks up. So, you're either pulling or pushing your shots, or not lining up your sights correctly. Try shooting it in single action (hammer locked back prior to pulling the trigger). Also, use only the pad of your index finger to slowly squeeze the trigger. The shot should be a surprise. Keep aiming properly until the shot goes off. Too much finger on the trigger can cause you to pull the shots to the right (for right handed shooters) and not enough finger on the trigger will cause you to push the shot to the left (again, for right handed shooters). Not lining up the sights properly will cause high and/or low hits. Try standing a bit sideways to the target. With your off-hand foot pointed toward the target. Hold the gun in your hand and wrap the other hand over the shooting hand. Have your fingers of your non-shooting hand lay in the spaces between the fingers of the shooting hand, with your non-shooting thumb wrapped over the shooting hand thumb. Keep the shooting hand's arm locked and straight, and the non-shooting hand's arm slightly bent. You want to "push" the gun forward with your shooting arm, and apply backward pressure "pulling" with your non-shooting arm. This gives you a very steady base, just keep the pressure equal with both hands/arms. Get comfortable, and have a solid base. My background is prior military and police training. Hope this helps.
