You are asking several questions and can only anwser one. Yes handguns should be legal for hunting or a finish off shot. There should be a min. caliber requirement. We owe it to all game and varmints to make the most humane kills. No other permit or license should be required. Your general hunting license should be enough. Hunting with a handgun is a challenge, It's not for a beginner handgunner. One must be a familiar shooting before using a handgun for game, in order to make the most humane kills possible.

I carry my Ruger BH 45LC w/4-5/8" barrel all during gun season..can't during bow and muzzleloader season. I have on occassion hunted with my muzzleloader during modern firearms season and used the RBH 45LC to finish off deer..instead of loading my muzzleloader again. The main reason I carry the 45LC is there's so many hogs where I hunt and I ride a bike about 7miles one way through the woods going and coming from the area I hunt before and after dark. I run through hogs all the time and my rifle is strung across my back so the 45LC is on my hip and easy to get to if I ever run over one or spook a sow with pigs so bad they do something stupid. I also carry my .44 Remington New Army black powder revolver during muzzleloader season and have used it to finish off a hog one time.

Just wanting to know if anyone else agrees with me on this topic. What exactly is your answer you never gave it? But I think it should be legal o carry a handgun to put away a animal that is wounded and won't suffer
