Not really sure what all you're asking for? The first suggestion I'd give would be to recognize all the different species and learn their point values. Not recognizing and shooting the wrong one could either send you home early or put you over your point limit. The latter is not good if you come in and there is a game warden sitting there waiting to check your license, stamp, plug and tally points.

If possible, go with somebody who is willing to teach you.

Not sure about everywhere, but in AR, there is no point system anymore...
But you do have to know what you are shooting.
Hook up with someone who is already hunting......have them show you the ropes.
You need a decent call, some waders, a few dekes, and a place to go.
Call sparingly...........don't take your safety off til the put down their feet!
SkyBusting is an unforgivable sin!

Read all you can about water fowling and do not learn bad habits from bad hunters. Listen to the old timers, they know allot of good info that is not practice these days. Watch where the end of the gun is, being shot not only hurts like but can kill some one or there dog. Some times you don't have to call allot to get them to come to you. And lets not forget this one, if you cant handle the cold rainy mornings with temps at 10 degrees , stay home and I hunt your spot
