I've had my CCW since 1987.My primary carry gun is a Glock M-27. I also carry a S&W M649 on occasions. For a fast run to the corner convenient store a Beretta M21A fits perfect in my front pocket.CCW's are the best insurance one can have.

Backstrap, has had a conceled carry permit since he was 21, and has been told he over-packs I carry a Colt Combat comander, ramped and ported, with a Barstowe target barrel, lightened hammer, porting and hammer done by dad, he also put a custom aluminum trigger, an extendet A.D swenson stainless safety on it, I have 5 extra clips (all pachmayr) of Hydra-shok's and 2 clips of hardballs in the glovebox +2 on my belt, a Colt stainless Mustang 380, that I carry in the front under my belt, and another featherweight mustang on my ankle, with 5 extra clips in the glove box also, also Hydra-Shok's for both mustangs, a 12 gauge 3 inch mag extended tube mossburg 500A behind the seat with two belts of 3 inch 00buckshot, that's 50 rounds of buckshot, and my Ak maudi is back there as well with 10, 30 round magazinzes filled with cheap Chineese ammo, and a cheif special, 38 special under the seat and two boxes of bullets for it in a fanny pack, I got pulled over at Talledega Speedway campgrounds about 3 years ago, by some michigan cops, they cuffed me for yelling FU to them, cause they were in an suv that had strobes and weaving in and out of trafic, I saw no star on the side, and no alabama cops would be caught dead in one of those little pontiac's, I had never seen one before then, so I thought they were just some punk's with strobe's on thier toy suv, anyway they got me in the back seat and started searching me, I said hold on one sec, and leaned foward and told them to take the 45 out of the small of my back, and then leaned over so they could see the 380 in my belt on my left front, and then told them to take the 380 out of my ankle holster! They wanted to see my permit, I said it's in my wallet, they searched that too, and quit searching my person, looked through my truck and I could tell by the look on their faces that they were freaked out, since both the AK and the shotgun were loaded and I had so many rounds of ammo, and clips, they checked to see if the shot-gun and AK were legal loaded, the whole tiime I was applogizing, saying I thought you were just punk's running in and out of traffic, which I did, I was profusely applogizing, they asked me if I was expecting a war, and I said no but I been in one, and like to stay prepared for anything, they uncuffed me and let me go, when they got the call that it was legal to carry my rifle and shotgun loaded, and I was on my way, they were astonished! LMAO about it now but I had never had cuff's on before, 'cept from the ex ole lady, and I did not like it worth a flip! I bet they still talk about me, but that's how I pack all the time, and that car alarm was a great investment! But that little truck I was driving and still do, looks like something out of a salvage yard, plus I had my MC Club Color's on and they must have thought I was some kinda freak!LOL! Mabey I am? ;D Keep packin' fella's! Roll Tide! Lee

Local sheriff won't grat any unless you have had threats made against your life or carry large sums of cash around all the time. He has made the statement that if he had his way there would be no permits in the county at all. Sure thank God he is retiring this year !!

I have one. The automated process makes it fast and easy.
Just go the Sheriff's Office and fill out an application. They run it through the courthouse computer and get the results in about 5-10 minutes. Then you pay the $20 and get the permit. The permit is good throughout Alabama.
This is the way they done mine in Mobile County.

Of course, I was in one of the first groups of applications when it was started so there were ALOT of apps. But 20 bucks? Oh, I just renewed mine again, $85.00 for 5 year renewel.

Here in Florida ,the first time runs around 150.00 if I remember correctly. Renewals are good for 5 years and is 65.00.we don't need to be refinger printed but a new photo is required each time you renew it. Mine is due this November.20.00 sounds like a bargain at twice the price.

That's a crock,If you're law abiding, clear the background check,he shouldn't hesitate issuing a permit. It's a shame you can't speed up his retirement. I hope his replacement is more understanding and uses common sense. Ruger Redhawk
