For those that do, please pray for my father and mother. He's 84 years old, a WWII veteran that won two bronze stars, a silver star, and a purple heart when a german tank blew up the half-track he was a machine gunner in at "the Bulge".
He's been in the hospital since last Saturday (the 29th). He went in with double pneumonia and a collapsed lung and due to space, had to spend the night in the ER. They moved him to ICU Sunday evening. Well, he got thru that pretty well and was only on a respirator for a couple of hours. They moved him to another room on Wednesday. He was even doing pretty well until yesterday when he had a heart attack. Today, he's being moved into the cardiac care unit where they can more closely monitor him. The doctors are now saying that due to his age and deteriated condition, he might not make it thru all this. This is the reason I've only been on here sparingly.
Please keep him and my mother in your prayers. If they have to put him back on the respirator, she'll probably have to decide when to turn it off.

You guys have been so kind, I owe you an update on what's going on.
My Dad has congestive heart failure (even with a pacemaker) and is unable to eat or drink anything. He's also unable to come off oxygen and breath. His strength is gone and can not even sit up.
He is, however, true to form, pretty alert and still has his sense of humor. But it's getting more and more difficult for him to speak as it takes all his breath away just to utter a few words.
One of the nurses told my sister earlier today that they give him 3 days, and that if he makes it to Saturday, it'll be a miracle. That's what I'm hoping for, a miracle.
I want to thank each of you again for your kindness in remembering him and my mother in your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks Todd!
I got called up to the hospital from work yesterday at about this time. I was expecting the worst. When I got there, he was having very labored breathing. A "rapid response team" came in and transferred him to ICCU (which is where he should have been all along) and he's now on a bi-pap (or something like that) breathing machine. It's not the respirator, but something different.
We're really confused about things. Now doctors are saying that the respirator won't help him, and, after explaining what happens when you do CPR to my mom, she's decided not to have that performed on him if his heart stops. Too much chance of broken ribs and sternum (which I knew). He's breathing easier, but it's because of the machine. The one heart specialist that has been seeing him up and quit the case yesterday. So right now, we're waiting to see what doctor if any is going to take charge of the situation. I was with him all night and he had a peaceful night due to the pain killers they gave him. I'm going to get some sleep and then go back up there in a couple of hours if they don't call me up sooner. It's just a waiting game now.
Thank you very much for your thoughts and prayers!!!!

Well guys, it's over. He passed away today (Saturday) between 3:00 pm and 3:15 pm. Don't know the exact time as he wasn't on a monitor and the Bi-Pap machine was doing his breathing for him. But it was peaceful and he didn't suffer, and that's what was most important to me.
So, now on to the funeral plans. It's been exhausting.
Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers. The miracle did come true, he lasted until Saturday.

Thanks again Todd. If anyone would be interested in seeing the obituary, there's a really good picture of him on it. Taken when he was around 65 years old. Just scroll down and click on his name on the right side of the screen. It's "George Clymer, Jr". www.mobley-dodsonfuneralservice.com/index.cfm
